Merry Christmas! Yes folks, it's that time of year again, where the Nostalgia TARDIS is done up with tinsel, turkey and all the trimmings! Join Glenn, Jii and Sam as they traverse the tricky road between the good presents you've all had through the years, and the presents which...well, let's just say people needn't have bothered gifting in the first place. There's also a bumper Christmas box full of news, from not only Masters, but Transformers, a smidgin of Star Wars, and even news from StarCom this week! Yes, ambassador, you truly are spoiling us. From all of us at BTTE, a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all of our listeners. We'll be back after Christmas to entertain and annoy you!
Friday, 12 December 2014
It's our Christmas Show Eve this week, as Sam, Glenn and Jenny from World of Crap take a look at not only the best and worst Christmas gifts that you've ever received, but also the downright confusing ones as well. There's also a glut of updates on the podcast in general, including exciting news about Cybertrax (yes, it's coming back), and all the news that you would want from a podcast that's not reported any news for a little while. Next week: IT'S CHRIIIIIIISTMAAAAAAAAAS!
Thursday, 11 December 2014
How's about this for a throwback, folks? All the way from 2010, here's Jeremy and myself (back in the days when I was just a humble co-host!) interviewing the man, the myth, the complete and utter legend that is Flint Dille, writer of GI Joe, Transformers: The Movie, architect for season 3 of Transformers G1, writer of many IDW Transformers comics and game designer of countless games (also, I'm pretty sure one of the voices at the start of Dragon Strike!) Enjoy!
Saturday, 6 December 2014
Cosplaying legend and podcaster Harriet Greene joins Sam, Phil and Glenn this week as we have a bit of a catchup episode - it's been a while since the guys have been together as a unit, so we take a look at the Avengers and Star Wars trailers, discuss the latest developments in the Marvel and DC movieverses, and also have a good old natter about cosplaying, dressing up, and generally having a good old time at conventions!
Saturday, 22 November 2014
Jii, Sam and Glenn are joined by Annie and Eddie Palitoy this week, as they discuss not only some of the cartoons that perhaps we're not as nostalgic about as we should be, but they also take a trip down an edible memory lane as they take a look at food from the 80s that we should all be remembering fondly! And yes, that includes He-Man jellies.
Tuesday, 11 November 2014
This week sees the return of the Transformers to WTMS, and in particular, to a time when Hot Rod and Cyclonus led the Autobots and Decepticons, on Nebulos, at least. Also, many centuries have passed. So Spike = dead. On the plus side, so is Daniel. And Scorponok isn't a sentient being. The Ladybird continuity is weiiiiiiiird.
Saturday, 8 November 2014
Jenny from World of Crap is back with us tonight, and she invites Glenn, Sam and Jii to play along with her as she takes on the full might of Bowen in Fantasy Bullseye! He has a degree in maths, you know. There's also all the news that's worth reporting too, including some MAJOR developments in the world of Star Wars. Super. Smashing. Great.

Back to the Eighties welcomes a very special guest this week, as AJ Locascio, voice of none other than Marty McFly in the Telltale Back to the Future games drops by! Yes folks, one of the few people to play one of our favourite characters is in the house! AJ talks about his role as Marty in the games, how he came to be interested in films to begin with, and even his love of nostalgia (and BTTF, Indiana Jones, Ninja Turtles...the list goes on...) We'd all like to thank AJ for his time and hope that he'd like to come on the show again in the future! We also have your homework about things you'd like to see INNNNN SPAAAAAAAAAAACE, and also have a good old natter about wrestling. So join us please, as we go Back...to the Eighties.
Tuesday, 21 October 2014
It's all the way back to Earth year 1984 this week, and another visit to Eternia, to check in on everyone's favourite living skeleton and his struggle against He-Man. It's not going so well, to be honest. So much so, that Skeletor's had to resort to using Mer Man to attack Prince Adam and the Royal Family on their summer holidays. Maybe Skeletor should have used Nicholas Witchell instead. I bet King Randor HATES Nicholas Witchell.
Friday, 17 October 2014
Wotcher! After a week away we're back, and this time we have added extra Chris Vint! He joins Sam and Glenn as they explore the wonderful world of Ulysses 31, and find out whether the eponymous hero really does get to go home, and also whether his crew survive being made as lifeless as stone! There's also news, lots of news, ALL THE NEWS, from Star Wars and Transformers, and also a 200th episode message from a late'un. Oh yeah, and also homework: which myth, legend or story could do with the space opera treatment that Ulysses got? Answers on a postcard please, as well as questions for next week's guest, AJ Locascio, famous for providing the voice of Marty Mcfly in Telltale games Back to the Future adventure game!

Friday, 3 October 2014
We made it! Yes folks, Back to the Eighties is officially 200 episodes old, and Phil, Sam, and Glenn feel like celebrating. So here they are to read out some of the messages we've received from to mark the occasion, as well as mention some of their favourite moments, and why they enjoy making this wonderful show so much. There's also a smattering of news, but really, that's not what this week is about. So make a nice cup of tea, put your feet up, and enjoy the milk poop. Thanks for listening.
Wednesday, 1 October 2014
Hey you! Yes, you! How about a Masters of the Universe story that doesn't have He-Man in it and focuses solely on Skeletor, Beast-Man and Evil-Lyn going back through time to recruit an army...with hilarious consequences! You want it, you got it. Warlord of Eternia is based on a story from the one-shot Ladybird Masters of the Universe annual, and features only the Evil Warriors on an ill-advised jaunt into the past! If you recognise the storyteller, then you might be surprised to learn that it's actually Ed Bishop, probably best known for his portrayal of Captain Blue, Captain Scarlet's BFF!

Howdy, pards. This week sees Jii, Phil, Sam and Glenn fixin' on givin' you guys a lesson in lawgivin', using that there Marshal Bravestarr as an example of how to do things RIGHT on New Texas. They'll also mosey on down through all the news that's worth reportin', not that there's much of that these days. Things just ain't been the same since Tex Hex and his gang ran off with the News Coach that ran through these parts a few months back. Remember though, next week BTTE hits 200 episodes, and we'd like to hear your favourite parts of the podcast, and what you'd like to hear more of - details in this week's show!

Saturday, 20 September 2014
Grufflock joins Sam, Phil and Glenn this week, as they spotlight a subject close to Gruffy's heart; The Adventures of the Galaxy Rangers! There's also lots of Transformers news, a smidgin of Ghostbusters, TMNT and Star Wars news, and some VERY interesting news about a nondistinct post box on Baker Street...
Tuesday, 16 September 2014
This week we visit the Transformerverse during it's mid-Eighties difficult-second-album phase, as Optimus Prime and Megatron have gone, and in their place stand the New Leaders; Ultra Magnus and Galvatron. This was odd, because these Movie-era Ladybird adventures chose to eschew the movie more or less, and took their cues from the Marvel UK comic that Simon Furman was having so much fun writing at the time. In this story, the Autobots discover that the Decepticons are constructing a hidden base, very near their own - will they be able to stop them in time, before the Decepticons strike?
Sunday, 14 September 2014
Time to check out one of my favourite EVER characters in MOTU - Orko! Also, a look at one of the most underrated characters in Prince Adam! Remember folks, Roll Out Roll Call is approaching fast - get your tickets now: facebook.com/RollOutRollCall

Yes folks, it's Shit Days Out for Kids! Jii, Phil, Sam and Glenn are also on hand to join in, and also to do some reportin', as we catch up on all things MOTU, Turtles and some very interesting Star Wars news!
Wednesday, 10 September 2014
It's Madame Razz's 1009th birthday, and that's cause enough for celebration in the Whispering Woods, and so a huge surprise party is planned! However, is it really a good idea to invite Catra to proceedings? And will Madame Razz find out about the party before the surprise is sprung? All these questions and more are answered in this week's When the Music Stops!
Saturday, 6 September 2014
We're back! After a month away for holidays, sickness, etc Phil and Glenn return with the podcast that travels back through time in a rose tinted DeLorean! This week, we catch up on all the things we've done in the last month, as well as talk about Guardians of the Galaxy, and of course, what we think of the start of season 8 of Doctor Who, including how we're feeling about the Twelfth Doctor at this point! There's also all the news that's worth reporting on, and a good discussion about crisps, sweeties, and other things from our favourite decade that probably wouldn't be allowed now because they're too full of e-numbers.
Sunday, 3 August 2014
Saturday, 2 August 2014
Jenny from World of Crap joins Becca, Glenn and Sam again this week, where we take a shadowy flight into a world where Skeletor wins, and Eternia is his. So prepare for sickness, as we discover that Skeletor might have actually just put right what once went wrong... Also, prepare for one of the greatest coincidences in recorded history. Your head may explode.
Friday, 25 July 2014
SDCC starts TODAY, and there's already been some major Transformers news! So join Glenn, Sam and Phil as they find out what that could be, and share in their joy and happiness, because it's all very exciting this time around! They also spotlight the British superhero amazement and weirdness that is Bananaman, and discuss some of the more conventional superhero stories that may be coming out of SDCC this week, as well as a very hopeful TMNT auction, and JJ Abrams' latest Star Wars teaser. Back to the Eighties - ever alert to the call for action!
Tuesday, 22 July 2014
WTMS makes a welcome return, this time chronicling some of Skeletor's fiendish attempts to take over Castle Grayskull, defeat He-Man and rule over Eternia. Spoiler: He does none of those things. His power knows no end!
Friday, 18 July 2014
Phil's back with the team this week, as Becca spotlights an early 90's classic - the satirical newsroom comedy, Drop the Dead Donkey! Also this week, the BTTE newsroom gets busy, with news coming from TMNT, Transformers, and the new Power Rangers movie. We also discuss LFCC, CFCC, and the current state of the toy market, including the question of whether EVERYTHING should be a combining robot these days. 16 weeks until CFCC!

Sunday, 6 July 2014
It's my review of the latest Transformers movie, Age of Extinction, with a cheeky review of Revenge of the Fallen's version of the main AoE bad guy, Lockdown!
Friday, 4 July 2014
Jenny from World of Crap joins us again this week, and together with Becca, Jii and Glenn, goes back to a simpler time when a man could live with an anthropmorphic bear, a pink hippo and a magically animated rugby ball and no-one would bat an eyelid. Yes folks, this week we're spotlighting Rainbow. We also have all the news that matters, including MOTU, Transformers and even some Andersonia, as well as a good discussion of a Red Dwarf nature. Smoke me a kipper. 1 WEEK UNTIL LFCC.
Sunday, 29 June 2014
Time to have a look two of the Nick TMNT toys: this week it's the original and "stealth" versions of everyone's favourite nerdy turtle, Donatello!
Friday, 27 June 2014
It was Botcon last weekend, so we're having a little bit of a special Newsround this week, as Becca, Sam and Glenn talk about all of the various goings on and amazing announcements at this year's main Transformers Expo. Becca's also spotlighting the various Sherlock Holmes series made by Granada in the 80's and early 90's, starring the supremely talented and much missed Jeremy Brett. We also talk about the live television moments that stick in our huge nostalgic brains, as well as a couple of movies we're looking forward to, and of course, the latest announcements from LFCC, which is only TWO WEEKS AWAY.
Friday, 20 June 2014
Join the gang this week, as they experience the eldritch horror that is Small Wonder...my god...my god. They also report on all of the news that's worth reporting on this week, such as a great new SDCC set for Transformers, some MAJOR news for MOTU, all the Star Wars news (luckily this week we're not telling Harrison Ford to break a leg) and even some Thunderbirds news! It's all going on this week, guv'nor.
Sunday, 15 June 2014
Saturday, 14 June 2014
As promised last week, we have a very special guest on this week's show. It's Jenny from World of Crap, her wonderful nostalgic website that covers all the great 80's experiences from He-Man to Bullseye! She joins Sam and Glenn as they discuss the wonderful and sometimes bizarre world of 80's daytime telly, which had not yet felt the caress of Jeremy Kyle, nor the taint of Homes Under the Hammer. Good times. A very big thanks to Jenny for coming on the show this week, and believe me, she will be back! Sadly, the news is not all good this week, as we've lost a legend. RIP Rik Mayall. Just in case the grown ups ask, that's why the kids are crying.
Sunday, 8 June 2014
Saturday, 7 June 2014
It's a full compliment this week, as the crew get down and dirty with one of the true iconic TV programmes of the Eighties, Knight Rider! Let's face it, it doesn't GET more Eighties than that. There's also NEWS! Lots of news. SO MUCH NEWS. From Transformers (where the house is divided on the subject of the SDCC set) to Masters (where Jii clues us all in on a great discovery he's made) to Star Wars (where there's been lots of great developments to Episode VII, including JJ trolling the interwebz) to Ghostbusters (30 years? Really?) and even a bit of TMNT news thrown in for good measure (we still can't wait for this movie). It's a full show, to be sure. So sit back, relax, and enjoy this week's BACK TO THE EIGHTIES.

Sunday, 1 June 2014
It's time for a look at the current Transformers knock-offs frequenting Poundland folks, as well as a look at another range by Funtastic, and some cheapy cheap "Lego". You get what you pay for, that's all I'm saying.
Sunday, 25 May 2014
This week, it's a retrospective of everyone's favourite sewer dwelling martial artists, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles! Also, I take a look at two of my most recent purchases, the turtle-baiting mutant rhino and warthog, Bebop and Rocksteady!
Saturday, 24 May 2014
This episode sees Jii, Glenn, Sam and Phil having a good old natter about what they were up to (and what they were buying) whilst BTTE was off the air. The subjects, as always, are eclectic, ranging from Kamen Rider and Power Rangers, to Godzilla and even My Little Pony. Yeah. It gets THAT weird. There's also all the news that we can possibly cram into a 3 hour podcast, as well as an announcement about this year's Roll Out Roll Call. So what are you waiting for? Back to the Eighties - if this were prison, you would be up for parole about now.

In what we hope to be a regular monthly feature, he and Glenn are going to be going through the histories of some of our very favourite franchises. and charting their rises, falls, seeing them rise again from the ashes, and assessing where they stand today, and asking the question, "Where do they go from here?" To start off with, it's the Real American Heroes of GI Joe - YO JOE!
Saturday, 3 May 2014
Phil's back, everybody! Yes, he's gone and got himself all married and stuff he has, and is now back to tell the tale! Meanwhile, Phil, Sam and Glenn check out and spotlight the 1978 TV series of the Amazing Spider-Man, and have a bit of a natter as to why that series didn't work but series like The Incredible Hulk and Wonder Woman did. The guys also check out all of the news that's fit to talk about (including some very interesting Star Wars news), and answer a few of your questions on Facebook! Back to the Eighties - if this were prison, you would be up for parole about now.
Wednesday, 30 April 2014
Hey now, kids. This readalong is important now, for it would seem that this guy is now a part of the Marvel movieverse. Which is good, he's a very cool and interesting character. Embrace the fact, don't be scared. No really, don't feel fear. Because whatever knows fear, burns at the Man-Thing's touch!

Saturday, 26 April 2014
Pray, good listener, do join the team of Glenn, Jii, Becca and Sam as they peruse the good land of Moomin Valley, in search the Moomintrolls within, and seek enlightenment at the feet of Thingumy and Bob (as they attempt to see what's in their secret bag).
