So join Jii, Glenn, Phil and Sam as they delve into the depths of Dusty Bin, and see what weird and wonderful news stories they can dig up, even though it's the Christmas period, and there really isn't much news around. We'd all like to wish you a happy and bright Christmas, and a brilliant New Year!

This week we discuss fear - specifically your fear of horror movies or certain scenes from said movies from when you were ickle. Come on, we all know you used to sneak a peak at the horror movies on video or TV - and this is where you finally admit it, and that's the reason you're scared of sharks, alien furballs or angry Jewish ghosts. We also welcome a special guest on for the second half - but I'm not telling you who that is, suffice to say things get very silly from that point onwards.

Monday 11 November 2013

When the Music Stops: GI Joe

This week sees a trio of GI Joe stories heading your way, all courtesy of our old friends at Kid Stuff! Anyone who has ever heard their Transformers stories will know what to expect here, so don't get your hopes up; their GI Joe stuff isn't much better, if at all better. Still there's three stories to choose from, so I'm hoping quantity trumps quality this time around. They're certainly weird enough to get entertainment value out of, if nothing else. The three stories are: The Captive City, The Deadly Satellite and Challenge of the Clones. Enjoy, and YO JOE!

Episode 138

This week sees the return of the guy who helped start this very podcast you're listening to - yes, the Jer Bear guests on this episode with Glenn, Phil and Jii! In this week's episode, we take a look at what YOU want us to spolight in the coming months, as well as catch up on the rest of the news at Toy Fair (including some adorable Crimson Guard), and also answer some questions about comic books and TV! Becca's still not well this week, but we hope that she's back next week with us - we miss you Bri! Get Well Soon!

When the Music Stops: Transformers - The Special Teams

Boy, do we have a treat for you this week. ONLY available in the UK using Robot Points, The Special Teams is a definite curio. Yes, it's nothing but a glorified advert for the combining Transformers of 1986, but it's unique in the fact that it casually steals bits of continuity from all the G1 stories that were happening at the time, including the comic and cartoon. It's also narrated by Don Henderson of 'Bulman' fame. He was in Star Wars, you know.

Episode 137

It's the Toy Fair episode of BTTE, so Glenn, Phil and Jii have a lot of news to go through this week - so much so, that they don't actually get to fit it all in this week! What we DO have is a spotlight on the Hanna-Barbera take on Godzilla, an ad break with an extra special bonus, and a question that brings some very interesting and unexpected answers. Lead on, Macduff! We'd also like to wish Becca a very speedy recovery, as she's not well. Get well soon, Becca!

When the Music Stops: Action Force - Return of the Dinosaurs

In honour of Dave Tree (All the Cool Stuff, Roll Out Roll Call) visiting BTTE Towers, this week's story is NOT the GI Joe cartoon episode 'Primordial Plot', oh no. It's a rare journey to see those International Heroes from Action Force! Listen as a very British Flint takes on the creepiest ever Cobra Commander, and foils a plot to take over the world using cloned dinosaurs! All to the best cartoon theme tune ever! FULL FORCE!

Not Gonna Get Me on No Ad Break, Sucka

For those that wanted to see the bits of the A-Team Bookending the ads for the show this week, here they are!

Saturday 9 February 2013

It's special guest time at BTTE Towers, and this time it's the turn of specialist collector's store All the Cool Stuff owner, one of the guys in charge of the Roll Out Roll Call convention, and all round nice guy, Dave Tree! Dave has a lot of interesting things to talk about, not only because he's a fan of most things 80's, but also because he has a unique perspective of the toy world, being a store owner. He is a must! Also this week: Glenn, Phil, Becca and Dave discuss your thoughts and feelings of TMNT 2: The Secret of the Ooze, and we trawl the depths of the News Pipe in search of all the tasty morsels of new this week. How will new girl Becca cope with the News Pipe in her first foray into it? (Spoiler - brilliantly) All the Cool Stuff: www.allthecoolstuff.co.uk

When the Music Stops: Batman - The Warhawk

This week's tale of derring-do (about half eleven, sir) comes from 1989, and is again from Ladybird, who seem to have made a good living in the 80s by making some awesome readalong books. In this tale, the Penguin makes off with a government super-plane (think Firefox), and of course, there's only one man in the world who can stop him - the Dark Knight himself! Top Tip: listen out for the great music bookending this one, in the style of Prince's 'Batdance', but not - if you see what I mean.

Episode 135

Hark! A new podcaster appears! Yes folks, there's a new addition to the BTTE team, in the shape of Becca aka Metrodoxy! Please make her feel welcome, and treat her as you'd treat Glenn, Phil and Jii. In fact, scrub that, treat her nicely! This week's show sees Becca join the guys as Phil regails us with a spotlight of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2: The Secret of the Ooze, followed by some news - and as there's been a week's hiatus, there's plenty of it about. So much, in fact, that we've had to hold some off until next week, you lucky people. Also: we find out which 80s theme tunes rock the team's boat. Yes, team. We have a team now. Like the Avengers. But nerdier.

Tidy up at Night (1969)

How we used to live. I actually remember seeing this PIF in the 80s, when really it should have been irrelevant due to electrical grounds having been installed by then. Still, it's a nice insight into life in the late 1960s, and I think I detect the voice of Richard Briers in there. A charming and non-scary PIF. And remember to turn off your computer before you go to bed.

Episode 134

Join us, dear listener, as Glenn and Phil read out YOUR memories of the 1990 TMNT movie, and discover that video piracy was more rife than anybody ever thought possible! Also in this week's show, NEWS! With subjects as diverse as GI Joe and Voltron, and a certain shop owner seems to be very popular in the newsgathering field this week. We then answer a question or two in our customary shambolic style! WARNING: experiments in the field of Sprite/pubic hair may be mentioned.

Wednesday 16 January 2013

When the Music Stops: Superman - Double Trouble

This week's offering is from the back end of the Eighties, 1989 to be exact, and it sees Superman battling aliens intent on taking over the world! It seems that the aliens might have done the impossible, and actually beaten the Big Blue Boy Scout! What happens next? Well, the only way to find out is to carry on, dear listener, and remember; when the music stops, turn your cassette over!
