It's Christmas at BTTE Towers, and it's time to celebrate by spotlighting that oh-so-staple Christmas gameshow of the 1980s, 3-2-1! So join Jii, Glenn, Phil and Sam as they delve into the depths of Dusty Bin, and see what weird and wonderful news stories they can dig up, even though it's the Christmas period, and there really isn't much news around. This is more than likely the last show of 2013, but we'll be back in 2014 to annoy and upset you even more than we have in the last 3 years - yes, we'll be 4 in March 2014. We'd all like to wish you a happy and bright Christmas, and a brilliant New Year!
Friday, 29 November 2013
Last Saturday saw the Day of the Doctor become a reality, so join Glenn, Phil and Becca as they discuss the main event of the 50th birthday celebrations for Doctor Who, and all of the ramifications and insights into the future that it brought with it. Also, enjoy all of the news this week, including Transformers, Turtles and a good healthy dollop of Robocop. Back to the Eighties - 8 out of 10 nerdy nostalgic types recommend it!
Thursday, 28 November 2013
Join Glenn and Becca as they travel to t'frozen north, and encounter a robot that only really exists in cartoon form, as one of the biggest fudges in history. Also, a robot who makes possibly one of the most pointless sacrifices EVER.
Friday, 22 November 2013
Becca joins the gang this week, as they talk about welding, Agent Coulson, toilet turnstiles and An Adventure in Space and Time. We also report on all of the news that's worthy to be talked about this week, such as Castle Grayskull mishaps, Turtle scalping, and perhaps the worst Swerve there ever was.
Tuesday, 19 November 2013
This week's adventure features not only a trip to Cybertron, not only the one and only appearance of the Rainmakers, NOT ONLY one of the biggest reasons for a HUGE Transformers retcon, but also the first commentary on Cybertrax for Becca! If that's not reason enough to have a listen, then I just don't know what is.
Sunday, 17 November 2013
Friday, 15 November 2013
This week we discuss fear - specifically your fear of horror movies or certain scenes from said movies from when you were ickle. Come on, we all know you used to sneak a peak at the horror movies on video or TV - and this is where you finally admit it, and that's the reason you're scared of sharks, alien furballs or angry Jewish ghosts. We also welcome a special guest on for the second half - but I'm not telling you who that is, suffice to say things get very silly from that point onwards.
Monday, 11 November 2013
It's the turn of Dom Blanco to sit in the co-host's seat this week, as Glenn takes on the episode that first introduced us to Chip Chase, ally of the Autobots, genius level intellect, and guy who turned Prowl into a First Person Shooter.
Saturday, 9 November 2013
Friday, 8 November 2013
Happy, Happy Hallowe'en! Yes, yes, I know it's not Hallowe'en anymore, but we're spotlighting Hallowe'en 3: Season of the Witch anyway. Because it's awesome. No matter *what* they said in the Eighties. We're also reporting all the news that's cool and relevant this week (including some exciting Transformers news, Turtles rumblings and Star Wars firming up) as well as all of the usual banter. So, join Glenn, Phil & Sam, and remember, don't forget to put on your mask for the great giveaway - keep watching the flashing pumpkin!
Monday, 4 November 2013
This week sees the return of ITES, and a very special guest indeed - Stardub, aka Ralph! Yes folks, we finally got to him. So join us please, as we take a voyage inside the mind of a man who thinks that Jason of Star Command is cool, and who owns all of the Acorn Green comics.
Saturday, 2 November 2013
Yes folks, it's time to round off the very loose Masters of the Universe trilogy on Back to the Eighties with a special episode completely dedicated to He-Man, She-Ra, Skeletor and all of the other great characters from Eternia, Etheria and beyond! Joining me on this retrospective are our good friends Dom Blanco (in his first EVER BTTE appearance), and Chris Vint (in his first BTTE appearance in about two and half years!) Come with us on a journey from the very first baby steps that He-Man took in 1982, all the way through to 200X and remember - if you see Skeletor's face on a bottle, be sure NEVER to drink from it!
Monday, 28 October 2013
Welcome to Season One of Transformers! After the opening mini-series, G1 kicks off with a bang - the Decepticons discover the Space Bridge, the Autobots get trapped in a cave, and Bumblebee replaces Hound as the kid identification character! Joining myself on commentary this week, it's the first outing for a BTTE regular listener - Colin, aka duffism1981!
Saturday, 26 October 2013
This week sees the return of Mr Jii into the mix, just in time to join Glenn and Phil as they spotlight the Masters of the Universe franchise, from the very beginning in 1976, where one of the dumbest business decisions of all time would lead to one of the most lucrative properties of the 1980s, right up until the present day with the Classics line. We also report on all the news that's worth knowing, and discuss some memories of our favourite decade, including why we love nostalgia so very much!
Monday, 21 October 2013
Join Mr Chris McFeely and myself for the epic conclusion to the first three parter in the grand Transformers saga! This would mark the end of the beginning for Optimus Prime and co - but it certainly wasn't the beginning of the end. Join me next week as season 1 proper begins in earnest, with a brand new special guest to co-host!
Saturday, 19 October 2013
It's a sad day for us here at BTTE Towers, as we mourn the passing of Filmation legend Lou Scheimer. Lou gave us so many great shows, so it's only fair that we have a bit of a retrospective today. I'm sure we'll also do a more comprehensive tribute somewhere down the line as well. RIP Lou, and thanks for the memories. You had the power. We also look at all of the news worth talking about this week, and answer some of your questions.
Monday, 14 October 2013
...aaaaaaand we're back! Yes, I know, it's been a couple of weeks (I was ill AGAIN) but myself, Glenn and Chris McFeely are back with the second episode in the first Transformers minisieries, More Than Meets the Eye! Remember folks, this is the Metrodome version of the DVDs, without the break bumpers. Join us next week the for shocking conclusion!
Saturday, 5 October 2013
Greetings, nostalgia fans! Glenn here, apologising for last week's abscence. This week we are back however, so join us, Glenn, Phil, Sam and Jii as we talk about our time away from the podcast, our favourite toys from the 1980s (including a good discussion about Masters of the Universe), and all the news that's fit to talk about in the world of toys. After a break of one week, we will be back, next time (hopefully) with the comic book special, this time about Marvel UK Transformers!
Monday, 30 September 2013
Ok folks, here it is: the very first episode of my own personal challenge to dvd commentorize (not a real word) EVERY SINGLE EPISODE of G1 animated goodness, INCLUDING all of the Japanese original material! Episode one is of coure the first part of the 3-story miniseries that has come to be known "More Than Meets the Eye", and joining me for the next three weeks is a very familiar voice to Transformers DVD commentaries, Mr Chris McFeely himself! So sit back, relax, and listen to the first of a very, very long series of commentaries, with a real Transformers expert, and that bloke off Back to the Eighties. If YOU would like to be a part of this, then don't delay! Get in touch with me, today!
Saturday, 21 September 2013
This week, join Glenn Phil and Sam as they discuss YOUR homework answers, and discover what you think are the best comedies and comedy films of the 80s! It's quite the eclectic mix, let me tell you. We also report on all of the news around that's worth reporting on, and get completely derailed by talk of sportball, and sportball related issues!
Wednesday, 18 September 2013
Yes folks, it's that time of week where I kidnap someone in the nostalgia TARDIS, and whisk them back to their childhoods, to see what makes them tick, and what their most favourite memories of everyone's favourite decade were. This week, it's Old Oilhouse impresario and man I homage quite often, Grufflock! Strap yourselves in. It's gonna be a long one.
Monday, 16 September 2013
Yes folks, here it is - the full 36 minute readalong version of the ultimate He-Man/She-Ra experience! Listen as Prince Adam is sent to Etheria by the Sorceress, to pick up a very special sword - but wait! Not everything is as it seems on this strange world, as He-Man is enlisted by rebels to fight against the Evil Horde and it's monstrous leader, HORDAK! Not only that, but He-Man discovers that someone very close to him indeed is hiding in plain sight on Etheria, completely unaware of who she is...
Saturday, 14 September 2013
No homework this week, we're letting it run another week you lucky people, so get your answers in quick smart! Instead, the boys talk about their favourite live action TV shows of the Eighties (spoiler: there's a lot of games shows that they loved), as well as all of the good and great things that happened this week - you'll definitely want to hear Sam's AMAZING news! There's also all of the news that's worth listening to, including some great news about Masterpiece G2 Sideswipe, interesting developments concerning the new Star Wars movies, and Power Lords becoming more and more essential with every second that passes! Back to the Eighties - it's not your father's 80's podcast!
Wednesday, 11 September 2013
This week we'd like to welcome comics legend John-Paul Bove into the nostalgia TARDIS, fora grilling about the things that made HIS Eighties a nice place to be! Thanks JP for taking time out of his busy schedule and agreeing to come on the show!
Monday, 9 September 2013
This week sees a tale from the Transformers, and from the spotlight hogging little crittertape himself - Laserbeak! When Laserbeak gets himself trapped in cassette form while on a routine mission, hi-jinks ensue. Add to that the promise of a non-electrical mechanical device and a village dance, and well, you either have yourselves an exciting Transformers adventure, or the weirdest episode of Frasier EVER.
Saturday, 7 September 2013
Welcome one and all, to the 160th episode of Back to the Eighties, where Glenn, Phil and Sam all seem to have bought the same toy this week, and are desperate to wax lyrical about it's awesomess. Whatever could it be? Sam also spotlights an amazing comedy film from 1983, starring Dan Aykroyd and Eddie Murphy - Trading Places! Also, we take a look at all of the news doing the rounds this week including some exciting Turtles news, some great news about a new Star Wars comic coming your way, and all the Transformers and GI Joe news you could shake a stick at, including a Roll Out Roll Call update (tickets now available!) LOL.
Thursday, 5 September 2013
Welcome again to Inside the Eighties Studio, where Glenn drags someone off in the nostalgia TARDIS, and asks them about the things that made THEIR 1980s so special. This week, it's the turn (har de har) of one half of the Stardub podcast, former special guest host of BTTE, and all round good guy, Andy Turnbull!
Sunday, 1 September 2013
Friday, 30 August 2013
This week Glenn, Phil and Sam discuss YOUR favourite Transformers teams and subgroups. Who will make the cut? Who doesn't even get a mention? At least one of the picks will astound even the guys! We also ferret out all the news from our favourite franchises, including (for once) Ghostbusters news! Seriously, will that third movie ever get made? Add to the mix a couple of listener questions, and well, that's a rich enough feast for any King of the Nerds.
Thursday, 29 August 2013
Welcome to the very first episode of a brand new regular feature on BTTE! Every week, Glenn will whisk someone off in the nostalgia TARDIS, and ask them about some of their favourite things about the 1980s were, what gives them all warm fuzzy feelings when they remember! The very first guest is someone we all know and love - Nicole, aka Hailstorm! Many thanks to Nicole for being so great and lovely!
Tuesday, 27 August 2013
Tuesday, 20 August 2013
The courageous ThunderCats, forced to leave their home planet, begin a new life on strange and dangerous Third Earth. Led by young Lord Lion-O, keeper of the Mystic Sword of Omens, they'll need all their special powers just to survive!
Friday, 16 August 2013
This week's episode sees Glenn, Phil and Jii look back through the annals of time to the year 1986, where we see the very first appearance of everyone's favourite Autobot brutality team - the Wreckers! We also discuss all the news that's worth reporting on from our favourite franchises, as well as answer at least one question about cake. Did you know, that "The Wreckers" is also the name of a band featuring Michelle Branch? Nope, me neither.
Tuesday, 13 August 2013
Yes folks, all the way from 1982, comes TRON, a story about a computer programmer who gets digitised and sent into a another dimension, where he has to save everything from the bad guys, especially David Warner! Interesting fact - Corey Burton took inspiration from Warner's character in TRON when he was creating the voice of G1 Shockwave in the cartoon. Well I found it interesting.
Friday, 9 August 2013
Glenn's back from his hollybobs this week, so he and Phil discuss what it's really like to be a passenger on the Queen Mary 2, and how Glenn liked New York and all of it's sights, including going to see the Ghostbuster firehouse! We also bring you all the news that's important this week in our favourite franchises, as well as bringing you up to speed on all of the football news, it would seem. Maybe we need to make a football podcast too. Nah. That'd never catch on.
Monday, 5 August 2013
It is a dark time for the Rebellion. Although the Death Star has been destroyed, Imperial troops have driven the Rebel forces from their hidden base and pursued them across the galaxy. Evading the dreaded Imperial Starfleet, a group of freedom fighters led by Luke Skywalker have established a new secret base on the remote ice world of Hoth. The evil lord Darth Vader, obsessed with finding young Skywalker, has dispatched thousands of remote probes into the far reaches of space.... The more you know!
Monday, 15 July 2013
This week, it's the turn of what I'm guessing was some people's first experience of still the best Transformers movie - the animated 1986 spectacular that saw the debuts of Hot Rod, Kup, Blurr, and of course the most awesome Autobot of them all - Ultra Magnus! Spoiler - Optimus Prime dies in this one. Just a warning for those of a nervous disposition there.
Saturday, 13 July 2013
The full gang's back this week (for the last time in a little while), and the guys discuss many, many things, including the weather, sport (Andy Murray winning a tennis, for example), and the state of broadband connectivity vs. dialup. They also find out what YOU used to be in the playground (along with who you may have injured), as well as all the news that's worth knowing in the wide, geeky world - and considering it was Botcon a couple of weeks ago, that's quite a lot of stuff to begin with. We also find out what the guys used to do on their summer holidays - long story short, everyone except Glenn did interesting stuff. Glenn watched cartoons and was grumpy. Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose.
Monday, 8 July 2013
This week sees the Super Powers of the DC Universe take on the mighty Darkseid and his forces, as they battle, quite literally, at the very core of the Earth! Who will win? Who will lose? Will they ever release this collection of figures again (because they seem to have been quite cool)?
Monday, 1 July 2013
Who Ya Gonna Call? Well apparently it's the Real Ghostbusters, who, in this week's daring adventure, find out that Peter's dad has discovered a ghost frozen in ice. Unfortunately, he decides to bring it into town where it thaws out and causes trouble for the Ghostbusters!
Friday, 28 June 2013
This week it's Jii, Glenn and Sam against the world! Well, podcasting about their childhoods and nerdy stuff, anyways. Together, they take on who YOU would want to leap into and save the universe (or use it to nefariously look at childhood crushes), as well as taking a look at all the news worth looking at this week. Also: we answer the question of who we roleplayed as in the school playground. Some of us dreamt we were Darth Vader, others a perpetual motion machine...
Monday, 24 June 2013
This week it's time to join Batman and Robin, the Boy Wonder, as they take on Gotham's shadowy underworld and such fiends as the Joker, Penguin and Catwoman! We also discover the tragic origins of Robin, and how come he ended up being Batman's dynamic and loyal sidekick! (Although if you don't already know that, you kind of suck as a nerd.)
Saturday, 22 June 2013
So, Man of Steel has hit the cinemas, and Glenn, Phil and Sam have all seen it! It's only right then, that this week's show is COMPLETELY dedicated to the guys talking at great length about not only this film, but comic book movies in general, as well as all of their memories of comic books past and present, and which superhero cartoons they loved and love! Enjoy, and Excelsior!
Monday, 17 June 2013
In honour of Man of Steel finally making it to theatres, this week sees the Last Son of Krypton tackle deadly killer bees! Just like the title says, really. In fact, this whole bit has been completely redundant. Superman!
Saturday, 15 June 2013
This week sees the return of Jii, as well as our 'side homework', where we get YOU to decide on the identity of the next actor to play Doctor Who!* But that's not all, because episode 153 sees Sam Palmer spotlight his very first thing from the 80s, and he's chosen to take on the mighty Quantum Leap! Yes, the show all about time travel and setting right the wrongs of the universe, that exists in the same odd dimenson as Magnum PI and Jessica Fletcher. Also in this weeks show, we take you on a trip around the news, from Transformers to Shapeways to He-Man to Big Bang Theory Funko figures. Oh, boy. *Yes, I know he's not actually called Doctor Who.
Tuesday, 11 June 2013
Saturday, 8 June 2013
This week sees Glenn, Phil and Sam finally read out your memories of Gladiators! The 1992 ITV series, that is.* Not the Russell Crowe movie. Or the slaves who were forced to fight in Roman arenas throughout the (then) known world 2000 years ago. Not that. They also get sidetracked (a lot) and talk about old wrestling, school memories, smells and lots more, as well as report on all the news that's worth knowing from our favourite franchises this week! Gladiators, READY! *Be prepared for lots and lots of guys in their thirties talking about Jet. No, really. Get ready.
Tuesday, 4 June 2013
It doesn't get much more G1 than this! Megatron discovers a solar enegry power plant and wants it's sweet, sweet enegry for himself and the Decepticon cause. Meanwhile, Starscream sees this as the perfect opportunity to overthrow his leader, and all the time the Autobots are watching, and waiting for their chance to thwart Megatron's plans! 1985, here we come!
Saturday, 1 June 2013
Join the guys (plus Nerdsphere Boss Timey2Wimey himself, no less), as they go on a journey of this week's news, views and talking points, all from the 80s! Included in this episode; TV themes, football coverage, Doctor Who, Transformers, Star Wars, Whoopi Goldberg, and BBC TV's Grandstand! If that doesn't intrigue you, I don't know what will...
Tuesday, 28 May 2013
Tuesday, 21 May 2013
Sunday, 19 May 2013
Saturday, 18 May 2013
Do you feel the power of the Gladiators? The guys do this week, as Phil spotlights the Nineties series with the decidedly Eighties feel! If that's not enough, they also discuss the new Star Trek movie, last week's Doctor Who episode, and ALL the news from our favourite franchises, you lucky people! ALSO: Glenn breaks Phil. It's Sam's turn to break him next week.
Tuesday, 14 May 2013
A super special treat for you this week - in honour of the series finale of Doctor Who this week, we have a classic story from 1980; State of Decay! Not only is it read by the incomparable Tom Baker himself, but it also features music and audio from the television episodes themselves! So, dear listener, get yourself comfy and draw the blinds, as the Doctor, Romana and Adric take a jaunt into E-Space and take on some nasty old vampires in Doctor Who - State of Decay!
Saturday, 11 May 2013
This week sees the gang (including the newly-inducted Sam to the BTTE ranks) discuss which 80's supervehicle you'd want to be taking command of (HINT - no one picks Automan's sweet ride), as well as talking about the latest series of Doctor Who, the Marvel superhero movies, and the undisclosed Laws of the Playground. There's also news, views, and a strange discussion about Kelloggs frozen waffles (and the reflectors that came with them!) Also: Jii breaks Phil.
Tuesday, 7 May 2013
As last week's offering was more like a punishment, this week have a reward! In this Masters of the Universe adventure, He-Man and the Masters must save Queen Marlena, who has been infected with a rare virus, and only the Snow Dwarves can help. However, when He-Man arrives for the antidote, he discovers that another He-Man has already got there before him? Who is this mysterious imposter? And how can He-Man prove that he's the real deal, before time runs out for Eternia's Queen?
Saturday, 4 May 2013
Sam Palmer's back with us this week, as Jii, Glenn and Phil spotlight one of the more lethal supervehicles of the 80's - Airwolf! There's also news to be had this week, with Matty SDCC news, TFCC goings-on and developments in Trans4mers all going on! Stay tuned for all that and more, including questions, DS9 conversations, and what supervehicles the guys would want!
Tuesday, 30 April 2013
This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this. Marvel at the adventures of the Kid Stuff Transformers, as Optimus Prime, Prowl, Megatron and Soundwave sit idly and watch action going on, and describe that action to you. Listen in wonder as Optimus Prime discusses the morality of combat in the most tedious way possible, before going back to not doing anything at all. Oh yes, people. This is the good stuff. After this, the Ladybird audios will have never sounded so sweet.
Monday, 29 April 2013
Friday, 26 April 2013
This week's show sees Glenn, Phil and Jii team up with an awesome power; Superstar Artist and firm friend to the podcast Sam Palmer! Like a mighty buzzard, Sam swoops down and raises the podcast's power to OVER 9000!!! He joins the boys as they discuss which short films and cartoons YOU liked as a nipper! We also take a look at the news that's worth looking at this week, as well as answering some questions from a resurrected Mr Bubbles, and everyone avoids death by NOT turning to Page 23. Turn to page 23.
Tuesday, 23 April 2013
Masked crusaders are indeed working overtime, fighting crime in this tale of a VENOM agent who finds that perhaps trusting the word of a criminal like Miles Mayhem isn't the best decision he's ever made...lucky for him, Matt Trakker and the MASK crew are there to help him out!
Sunday, 21 April 2013
Saturday, 20 April 2013
This week's bumper episode features a certain Mr D Tree, who you may or may not know has been to Joecon recently. So we'll be having a good, long 4-hour conversation about that trip, , All the Cool Stuff, Roll Out Roll Call 2013, his thoughts on GI Joe: Retaliation, and life in general! We also have all the news that matters of our favourite franchises, and sadly say goodbye to one of the hosts of the podcast, as they move on to pastures new! (Good Luck, Brian!) NB: The homework this week has been put on hold, so you have another whole week to complete it! Use your extension wisely kids!
Tuesday, 16 April 2013
Yes folks, When the Music Stops is back, and this time we're bringing you a doozy! All the way circa 1986, it's a tale of cosmic intrigue as the Guardians take on the Rengades with no less than Halley's Comet at stake! That's Halley's pronounced 'Hal-lees'. Not 'Haw-lees' like you're apparently you're supposed to today. Tsk.
Saturday, 13 April 2013
Lots to talk about this week. Glenn's back, Becca's absent. Margaret Thatcher died, Glenn saw GI Joe: Retaliation and wants to talk about it, at length (so SPOILER WARNING if you haven't seen it yet). After that though, things get a little less hectic and a whole lot more charming, as Jii spotlights the classic kid's TV show BERTHA! As for the news: Joecon, Joecon, Joecon. Yep, that was last weekend, so lots of Joe news this week! (Hopefully we'll be having Dave Tree at BTTE Towers again soon to report on how that went this year, as he was lucky enough to attend). There's also a smidgin of Masters news, and a sliver of Turtles, as well as Thundercats and Transformers! All in all, a very packed show this week. Bon Appetit!
Saturday, 23 March 2013
Friday, 22 March 2013
Phil and Becca are back this week, and together with Glenn, they all set off on a journey to find the Thirteenth Colony of Man, searching through the Galaxy to find the mysterious planet known as Earth...oh, they found it. There's also news though, mainly in the form of Transformers and GI Joe news, but still, NEWS. They also have a discussion about cutting and pasting important events from history, and Doctor Who! Aren't you lucky. YOU be the judge!
Wednesday, 20 March 2013
As it the last WTMS for a couple of weeks, we'd thought we'd give you all a treat; the full, 50-minute LP version of 'The Saga of Battlestar Galactica', with original audio and music from the series, AND narrated by Adama himself, Lorne Greene! By your command!
Sunday, 17 March 2013
Saturday, 16 March 2013
There's no Phil or Becca this week, but there IS an Andrew Turnbull from the Stardub podcast joining Jii and Glenn this week, as they discuss your (and their) guilty pleasure movies this week (as well as a multitude of other different things - a plethora, if you will). They also ferret out the latest news (including how the Botcon sets might be improved in future years), as well as answer a question about how and why the Noughties might have sucked. It's totes amazeballs!
Wednesday, 13 March 2013
Following on from last week, it's the second in the Indy Trilogy, as we go back in time to 1935, to when Indy takes on a child-stealing, heart-ripping-out cult, in the darkest, and most contentious of the movies!
Saturday, 9 March 2013
What ho, chaps! Chocks away, tally ho, righty-dokey and all that, what? It's only Becca's turn this week at the spotlight, don't you know, and it's her first one to boot! She's only gone and bally well picked the 1986 'classic' movie Biggles now, hasn't she? You know, the one about the World War I pilot who has an American time twin in the 1980s? Wizard! There's also ads from 1982 (the LWT region, where mater is from) and also all the news you'd ever want to shake a stick at, what? Now, I remember in India, in 1862...or was it Dudley?
Wednesday, 6 March 2013
It's all the way back to 1936 this week, as we join Indiana Jones in his first adventure (on film, at least) as he avoids Nazis, French archaeologists and angry Jewish ghosts as he searches for the Ark of the Covenant! Just so you know, this broadcast has been made by top men. Top. Men.
Saturday, 2 March 2013
This week's show sees the return of Becca - yes folks, Professor Lampenstein is BACK! As if that wasn't enough to make you want to listen, Phil spotlights Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends (Iceman and Firestar, as if you didn't know), and the News Team assembles once more to bring you all of the best toy news in town, as well as answering some of your questions put to us through the medium of the interwebz. How do we answer the questions, you say? Why with SCIENCE, of course!
Wednesday, 27 February 2013
This week sees a trio of GI Joe stories heading your way, all courtesy of our old friends at Kid Stuff! Anyone who has ever heard their Transformers stories will know what to expect here, so don't get your hopes up; their GI Joe stuff isn't much better, if at all better. Still there's three stories to choose from, so I'm hoping quantity trumps quality this time around. They're certainly weird enough to get entertainment value out of, if nothing else. The three stories are: The Captive City, The Deadly Satellite and Challenge of the Clones. Enjoy, and YO JOE!
Saturday, 23 February 2013
This week sees the return of the guy who helped start this very podcast you're listening to - yes, the Jer Bear guests on this episode with Glenn, Phil and Jii! In this week's episode, we take a look at what YOU want us to spolight in the coming months, as well as catch up on the rest of the news at Toy Fair (including some adorable Crimson Guard), and also answer some questions about comic books and TV! Becca's still not well this week, but we hope that she's back next week with us - we miss you Bri! Get Well Soon!
Wednesday, 20 February 2013
Boy, do we have a treat for you this week. ONLY available in the UK using Robot Points, The Special Teams is a definite curio. Yes, it's nothing but a glorified advert for the combining Transformers of 1986, but it's unique in the fact that it casually steals bits of continuity from all the G1 stories that were happening at the time, including the comic and cartoon. It's also narrated by Don Henderson of 'Bulman' fame. He was in Star Wars, you know.
Saturday, 16 February 2013
It's the Toy Fair episode of BTTE, so Glenn, Phil and Jii have a lot of news to go through this week - so much so, that they don't actually get to fit it all in this week! What we DO have is a spotlight on the Hanna-Barbera take on Godzilla, an ad break with an extra special bonus, and a question that brings some very interesting and unexpected answers. Lead on, Macduff! We'd also like to wish Becca a very speedy recovery, as she's not well. Get well soon, Becca!
Wednesday, 13 February 2013
In honour of Dave Tree (All the Cool Stuff, Roll Out Roll Call) visiting BTTE Towers, this week's story is NOT the GI Joe cartoon episode 'Primordial Plot', oh no. It's a rare journey to see those International Heroes from Action Force! Listen as a very British Flint takes on the creepiest ever Cobra Commander, and foils a plot to take over the world using cloned dinosaurs! All to the best cartoon theme tune ever! FULL FORCE!

It's special guest time at BTTE Towers, and this time it's the turn of specialist collector's store All the Cool Stuff owner, one of the guys in charge of the Roll Out Roll Call convention, and all round nice guy, Dave Tree! Dave has a lot of interesting things to talk about, not only because he's a fan of most things 80's, but also because he has a unique perspective of the toy world, being a store owner. He is a must! Also this week: Glenn, Phil, Becca and Dave discuss your thoughts and feelings of TMNT 2: The Secret of the Ooze, and we trawl the depths of the News Pipe in search of all the tasty morsels of new this week. How will new girl Becca cope with the News Pipe in her first foray into it? (Spoiler - brilliantly) All the Cool Stuff: www.allthecoolstuff.co.uk

This week's tale of derring-do (about half eleven, sir) comes from 1989, and is again from Ladybird, who seem to have made a good living in the 80s by making some awesome readalong books. In this tale, the Penguin makes off with a government super-plane (think Firefox), and of course, there's only one man in the world who can stop him - the Dark Knight himself! Top Tip: listen out for the great music bookending this one, in the style of Prince's 'Batdance', but not - if you see what I mean.

Hark! A new podcaster appears! Yes folks, there's a new addition to the BTTE team, in the shape of Becca aka Metrodoxy! Please make her feel welcome, and treat her as you'd treat Glenn, Phil and Jii. In fact, scrub that, treat her nicely! This week's show sees Becca join the guys as Phil regails us with a spotlight of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2: The Secret of the Ooze, followed by some news - and as there's been a week's hiatus, there's plenty of it about. So much, in fact, that we've had to hold some off until next week, you lucky people. Also: we find out which 80s theme tunes rock the team's boat. Yes, team. We have a team now. Like the Avengers. But nerdier.

This week's story sees us join Scooby-Doo and the rest of Mystery Inc., as we see them try and discover why a mysterious headless horseman is attempting to break up a local rodeo! Bloody meddling kids. Can't keep their sodding noses out, can they?

It's back to Eternia this week, as we find He-Man and the Masters of the Universe battling Skeletor and his evil forces again, to control the might of the scarily visaged edifice, Castle Grayskull!

How we used to live. I actually remember seeing this PIF in the 80s, when really it should have been irrelevant due to electrical grounds having been installed by then. Still, it's a nice insight into life in the late 1960s, and I think I detect the voice of Richard Briers in there. A charming and non-scary PIF. And remember to turn off your computer before you go to bed.

Join us, dear listener, as Glenn and Phil read out YOUR memories of the 1990 TMNT movie, and discover that video piracy was more rife than anybody ever thought possible! Also in this week's show, NEWS! With subjects as diverse as GI Joe and Voltron, and a certain shop owner seems to be very popular in the newsgathering field this week. We then answer a question or two in our customary shambolic style! WARNING: experiments in the field of Sprite/pubic hair may be mentioned.

This week's offering is from the back end of the Eighties, 1989 to be exact, and it sees Superman battling aliens intent on taking over the world! It seems that the aliens might have done the impossible, and actually beaten the Big Blue Boy Scout! What happens next? Well, the only way to find out is to carry on, dear listener, and remember; when the music stops, turn your cassette over!

Did you see it with family or friends, at the cinema or on VHS or DVD?Do your opinions now differ than at the time? You know the drill guys, we'd love to know your thoughts!

Things get Turtley Tubular tonight, as Glenn and Phil spotlight the 90's classic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie, and see if it's aged well like Splinter, or it's complete and utter turtle soup. And don't think we've forgotten about the kickin' New Jack soundtrack either - we take a look at that too! Illin'. Also in this week's show, finally, GI Joe news in general, and in particular news of Retaliation, including a release date! As well as that, news from Transformers, Star Wars, Thundercats and even a Battle Beasts update! Ambassador, with all of your news, you are truly spoiling us.

Happy New Year! This week sees the return of Jii with Glenn and Phil, as the guys take a peek at what you got for Christmas this year, as well as what you hope will happen in the world of geekery during 2013. There's also all of the news to take a gander at, including some rather strange news concerning Mattel and Wal*Mart, the gradual let down that is Transformers Beast Hunters, and some cracking news from the world of the Turtles! Back to the Eighties: It's Better Than Watching Eastenders.
